Made in Maffe, Belgium by La Fermière de Méan--a cooperative founded to market organic products--this artisanal Reblochon-style cheese has won several “Coq de Cristal” awards (a yearly competition that rewards artisanal food products from the region, following a blind tasting by professional judges). Enjoy on a cheese board with salami, baguette, fresh or dried pears and figs or melted on rice, polenta, potatoes or casseroles.
Taste: Creamy, mild, and buttery; a ‘little
stinker’.
Pairings: Chasselas, Roussanne, Pinot Noir,
Gamay.
Made with raw cow's milk and traditional rennet.
