Named after the town where Prussian-Swiss immigrants had settled in Russia, Tilsit was the result of their trying to recreate their homeland cheese. Their failed attempt resulted in an original cheese they named Tilsit. Enjoy this table cheese with fresh or dried fruits, nuts and a crusty bread; melts well. Taste: A mild, creamy, milky, fruity, Havarti-like washed-rind cheese. Pairings: Bordeaux, Gewurztraminer, Rioja, Tempranillo. Made with pasteurized cow's milk and traditional rennet.
